Tanya Hanson - Director of Communications

Tanya Hanson became the Director of Communications at the Professional Liability Fund in January 2025.
Ms. Hanson received her BS in Finance, cum laude, from the University of Oregon (1991) and her JD from the University of Oregon School of Law with a concentration in Business Law (1994), where she served as a Managing Editor of the Oregon Law Review. Ms. Hanson was admitted to the Oregon State Bar in 1994 and practiced for four years at Portland law firm Farleigh Wada Witt, focusing on business and employment law. After transitioning out of private practice, Ms. Hanson pivoted to a career in publishing, working as the Associate Editor at the Portland-based financial publications company Business Valuation Resources. She also taught legal research and writing courses in the paralegal program at Pioneer Pacific College and provided freelance editing services to various organizations.
Since joining the Professional Liability Fund in 2004, Ms. Hanson has held several different positions, including Loss Prevention Attorney, Communications Coordinator and Staff Attorney, and Communications Manager. In her current role as Director of Communications, she leads the PLF Communications Team and oversees all aspects of internal and external communications for the organization. Ms. Hanson has over 20 years of professional writing and editing experience and is the co-author of The New What Can You Do With a Law Degree? A Lawyer’s Guide to Career Satisfaction Inside, Outside & Around the Law (LawyerAvenue Press, Seattle: 2012).
