PLF Board Seeks Two Lawyer Members for 2027

PLF Board Seeks Two Lawyer Members for 2027

The Board of Directors of the Professional Liability Fund (PLF BOD) is seeking two lawyer members to serve a five-year term each, beginning January 1, 2027. Directors attend six board meetings per year (three in Tigard and three throughout Oregon), plus various committee meetings. Directors are also required to spend time reading board materials and participating in occasional video meetings. PLF policies prohibit directors and their firms from prosecuting or defending claims against lawyers.

The PLF would like to extend our warmest thanks to outgoing directors Alexandra Hilsher and Michelle Johansson, whose terms will end in 2026. Ms. Hilsher serves as the current PLF BOD Chair and is a partner at Hershner Hunter LLP in Eugene, Oregon, where she represents businesses and individuals in all stages of litigation. Ms. Johansson served as PLF BOD Chair in 2025 and has her own practice, Johansson Law LLC, specializing in protective proceedings, probate and trust administration, and selected litigation.

We appreciate their years of dedicated service and wish them all the best!

In light of Ms. Hilsher’s and Ms. Johansson’s departures, the PLF BOD is particularly interested in recruiting new board members with expertise in litigation and/or estate planning/elder law, and board members who are located outside the Portland metro area. We welcome applications from any OSB licensees who are not engaged in professional legal malpractice work.

This is a volunteer position. Board meeting-related expenses are paid by the PLF.

To be considered for a PLF board position in 2027, please submit this short online application by Monday, August 3, 2026.

We hope you will consider this unique and rewarding opportunity to serve Oregon legal professionals, and we look forward to receiving your application!
